Senior Project Engineer

Due to our continual growth, we have a new position for a Senior Project Engineer based in our premises at Blaenavon.

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day project, SolidWorks design plans and coordination of engineering project activities, ensuring efficient and timely execution from enquiry through to delivery.

Our ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering qualification or demonstrable experience in a similar role.  They will possess a good understanding of materials handling equipment, from both technical and manufacturing aspects (screw conveyors, mixers, belt conveying, metering feeders, discharging aids).  They will have knowledge of fabricating, welding and machining processes along with experience of supplying equipment and solutions to the food, aggregates sectors.

Candidates will need to have the ability to interpret contract documentation both commercially and technically. They will need to be competent in the use of MS Office, Autocad and SolidWorks and have the ability to interpret P&ID drawings.

The main duties of the role are:

  • Review customers’ enquiries, including data sheets, project specifications, P&IDs, and commercial terms and conditions.
  • Manage and prepare customer quotations that align with company profit expectations, ensuring technically accurate, cost-effective, and timely responses.
  • Provide technical and commercial clarifications or deviations to customer requirements when necessary.
  • Liaise with the drawing office to ensure accurate and technically compliant GA drawings and P&IDs are produced to support contract approval and delivery.
  • Oversee SolidWorks drawing control, ensuring best practices in 3D modelling, engineering standards, and revision management are maintained.
  • Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring seamless integration with procurement, inventory, and production planning systems.
  • Administer and control the Product Data Management (PDM) system to ensure traceable, version-controlled design documentation and efficient access across departments.
  • Take ownership of material procurement activities, working closely with the procurement team to ensure timely purchasing of materials and components in line with project requirements.
  • Manage supplier communication in coordination with procurement to ensure lead times are met, alternative sources are considered where needed, and cost-efficiency is maintained.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain to maintain control over delivery schedules and availability of materials to ensure production continuity.
  • Drive strict control of engineering and supply timelines to ensure all project milestones and final delivery dates are achieved.
  • Provide structured and clear contract handovers to the production team, supporting successful interpretation of technical requirements and fabrication expectations.
  • Monitor project cost controls and margins in collaboration with the commercial and operations teams.
  • Contribute to design and process improvement initiatives, supporting product innovation and the development of best practices within the engineering function.
  • Ensure completion and validation of Certificates of Conformity to meet contract specification and regulatory requirements.
